... on his way to Solemn Pontifical Vespers in "Sancta Maria in Silva (?)

I don't know what the strange purple dress of the caudatarius is all about...

... but I know that it doesn't go very well with the sandals.

And why does he hold the end of the cappa like he wants to hang it up to dry somewhere?

fortunately the bishop does not wear flip flops...
Is he wearing (half) a mantellone?
obviously the kid in sandals and shorts put on an altar-boy cassock which does not even button down, and they threw a mantellone on him!!!
And may I add that the whole attitude makes me think of a certain type of Parade? Sorry, but I see little devotion and much show.
I don't see how grim faces and grey sackcloth create an atmosphere of devotion. They often make the whole thing just more hypocritical and "holier-than-thou"-ish.
Obviously it is useless to discuss it. Smile, wave, and keep it gay.
Should have realized that one mail earlier
When you play dress-ups, you can do anything. Why not add a Viking and a Roman centurion?
Bishop Daniel Jenky is prett hot. I'd bone him or be his bottom.
